This week, we feature Luke Haynes. Luke is known for his portrait quilts and unique improvisational style. As an artist, his work has been featured in many galleries across the United States. Here are just a few of his most innovative works (all images from

He also currently has an exhibition of 50 quilts in Los Angeles, CA. These 50 quilts were all made with log cabin quilt blocks used in different ways. "Log Cabins of Donald Judd" refers to the minimalist exhibition by Donald Judd, "100 untitled works in mill aluminum, 1982-1986." Through strict size-constraints, utilizing the same block in many ways, and only using recycled textiles in black, white, and red, Luke has created an incredible display of quilts.
